Early Conn Smythe Favorite

In the playoff second round, I had picked Ilya Bryzgalov as the very early Conn Smythe favorite. He is no longer playing as unbeatably. In fact, Anaheim's only third round win came with Jean-Sebastien Giguere in net and Bryzgalov on the bench. It is time to pick a new Conn Smythe leader. My choice is Chris Pronger. From defence, he is tied for second in scoring in the NHL playoffs with 17 points. He has a very good +9 +/- rating that leads his Oiler team. His 31:40 ice time per game leads the playoffs among players who are still active in the Stanley Cup race. Chris Pronger is having a wonderful playoff so far.

Comments:
I would say that more than Pronger you gotta to look at the "R" man.

While every player on the Oilers gave everything they could, the difference between the Oilers and the Ducks was the Oilers goalie and the Ducks total lack of a power play!!!

rolosson is a flop! the only guy i have ever seen cry more than rolosson is sean avery. the ducks powerplay was lame in that series though.

pronger mvp? im goin niedermayer or heatley. i think im ready for an ottawa anaheim showdown.

The date of this last comment is curious. Why would somebody in September be talking about Conn Smythe picks for last June?

However, his prediction of an Ottawa - Anaheim final seems brilliant.

Thanks for your post, all these ideas are quite easy to understand and I wonder why I've never thought thus.
